An Ionia man is charged with several felonies after authorities received information he allegedly was selling methamphetamine in Pettis County.
A probable-cause statement says Pettis County deputies spoke with an individual in custody regarding the location of alleged drug distribution on March 9. The deputies were told 30-year-old Thomas Pitts was allegedly selling methamphetamine at a residence in the 20600 block of Chmelir Road in Ionia.
On March 11, deputies executed a search warrant on the residence, and Pitts reportedly was apprehended while trying to escape through a widow with a backpack on his person. A search of the residence and backpack revealed Pitts to be in possession of a loaded 9MM handgun, about 77 grams of methamphetamine and various drug-distribution paraphernalia.
Online court documents say Pitts has been charged with a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Class D Felonies for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, as well as a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
Pitts’ initial hearing is pending at the Pettis County Circuit Court.
