Personnel from three area fire departments battled a natural-cover fire for several hours on Tuesday, March 13.
According to a release from Pettis County Fire Protection Chief Mike Harding, fire fighters were toned out at 3:42 p.m. to douse a blaze on Lookout Road and Route O in the northeastern part of the county.
At one time, there reportedly were multiple heads to the fire, and several buildings were in danger of being damaged– but they were saved.
The fire was hard to extinguish due to dry and windy conditions, according to Harding.
In all, approximately 30 fire fighters from PCFD and the Sedalia and Otterville Fire Departments battled the blaze, which reportedly charred about 600 acres.
No injuries were reported from the scene, which reportedly was cleared by fire fighters at about 7:30 p.m.
