A Clinton man accused of shooting to death a Henry County law-enforcement officer last year is due to appear in court next week.
According to online court documents, 39-year-old Ian McCarthy has been charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the First Degree; a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action for the alleged shooting death of Clinton Police officer Gary Michael on August 6, 2017.
McCarthy entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing on August 11, 2017.
McCarthy is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19, at the Henry County Circuit Court.
