The Higginsville Board of Aldermen approved the purchase of fireworks for this years Independence Day celebration during a meeting on Monday, March 19.
City Administrator Jeanette Dobson said the board approved for the purchase of $6,700 worth of fireworks, with the Higginsville Lion’s Club in charge of conducting the display on Wednesday, July 4.
Dobson added as a part of the agreement, the Higginsville Chamber of Commerce will reimburse the city fund used in the purchase of the fireworks.
In other business, Dobson said the board approved an update to an ordinance for the high school.
Also, Dobson said the board approved a date for an upcoming meeting.
Lastly, Dobson said the board awarded the 2018 Cemetery Maintenance contract to Bear Lawn Care for $900 per mowing cycle.
