A Carrollton man has been charged with two felonies relating to an alleged shooting incident earlier this year in Carroll County.
According to a probable-cause statement, Carrollton Police officers responded to a report of an alleged shooting at a residence in the 900 block of Park Street on February 16.
During the investigation, a victim reportedly sustained two gunshot wounds to his left rear flank area which reportedly required multiple surgeries including the removal of part of his intestines and spleen. 65-year-old Rex Stacy allegedly was found to have shot the victim during an altercation at his residence. Stacy reportedly told authorities he never invited the victim in his home and the confrontation was “face-to-face”. However, authorities determined Stacy’s explanation of the confrontation did not say how the victim sustained gunshot wounds to his backside.
Online court documents say Stacy has been charged with a Class A Felony for First-Degree Assault-Causing Serious Physical Injury and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has not yet been set.
Stacy’s initial hearing at Carroll County Circuit Court is pending.
