An area law-enforcement agency has received reports of an alleged online scam regarding real estate and rental property recently in Saline County.
According to a release from the Marshall Police Department, the agency has received several reports which scammers are using social media to advertise a home for rent or sale, but actually don’t own the property. The scammers reportedly will provide a phone number and then make arrangements for you to send money to an out-of-state location.
The police department advise residents not to engage in online conversations with these real-estate scammers who want victims to send money without a face-to-face meeting.
