A former Bucklin teenager charged with multiple felonies for killing a woman during an incident last year in Linn County, was sentenced to spend over two decades in state prison after a court date on Monday, April 9.
According to a news release, 19-year-old Jose Montoya entered a guilty plea to felony charges of involuntary manslaughter in the first degree, burglary in the second degree and stealing. Montoya was sentenced to spend 24 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, which reportedly is the maximum sentence allowed in all offenses in this matter.
On June 13, 2017, Montoya reportedly was driving a stolen truck in a careless manner through a residential yard which struck a female pedestrian, who reportedly died two days later at a hospital in Columbia. Montoya reportedly was deemed to be intoxicated during the incident.
