A warrant has been issued, and a Kansas City resident who allegedly received a package that contained more than 20 pounds of marijuana from a delivery and shipping company at an apartment in Boonville and gave it on to another person on March 20, 2018, has been charged with two felonies.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities were notified of a suspicious package located at a UPS shipping hub in Columbia. The package reportedly was searched and contained 22 individual plastic bags of marijuana, weighing a total of approximately 25 pounds.
While MUSTANG Drug Task Force members and Boonville Police officers were surveilling a residence in the 400 block of Third Street– within 2,000 feet of State Fair Community College and 1,000 feet of Kemper Park– the package reportedly was delivered. A woman reportedly took the package to the back yard and later gave it to a man, who reportedly drove away from the scene. He reportedly was arrested after he parked the vehicle at Isle of Capri Casino.
Authorities also searched the apartment and allegedly found a small amount of marijuana, scales and a grinder, as well as other drug-related items.
According to online court documents, Cassandra Rene Jones has been charged with a Class A Felony for Distribution of a Controlled Substance in a Protected Location; a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana; and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond has been set at $5,000 cash or surety.
