A Sedalia man is facing two felony charges for damage he allegedly caused during an incident earlier this week in Pettis County.
According to a probable-cause statement, on Monday, April 9, Sedalia Police officers were dispatched to a sports bar in the 3000 block of West Broadway for an alleged hit and run incident.
Officers spoke with the victim who stated 58-year-old Paul VanSteenburg was asked to leave the business after he allegedly slammed a “2 x 4” piece of wood on a table and flipped over chairs during a confrontation. VanSteenburg allegedly backed his vehicle into another vehicle causing damage and left the scene. The damages to the victim’s vehicle reportedly was estimated between $3,000 and $4,000.
Online court documents say VanSteenburg has been charged with two Class E Felonies for First-Degree Property Damage and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Damages Exceeding $1,000. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.
VanSteenburg’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
