An insurance agency is trying to do its part in helping stamp out hunger in the state, but it needs your help.
According to a news release, the Missouri Farm Bureau’s third annual “Home Run Against Hunger” campaign has begun. According to the “Map the Meal Gap” 2015 study, more than 250,000 Missouri children are experiencing food insecurity.
Residents can help stamp out hunger by dropping off nonperishable food items and monetary donations at one of more than 1,500 Missouri Farm Bureau offices throughout the state through May 11, 2018.
In the final weeks of May, each office will take the donations to a local food pantry to be weighed, and a statewide grand total of donations–in pounds of food and monetary donations– will be announced.
In 2017, nearly 10 tons of food and $4,000 were donated for child food programs.
