A Kansas City man has been charged with felonies relating to an alleged incident of domestic assault last week in Lafayette County.
According to a probable-cause statement, just after 1 p.m. on April 15, Lafayette County deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 600 block of West Mason Street in Odessa. Upon arrival, deputies reportedly noticed 48-year-old Herbert Shroyer running north from the residence. Deputies reportedly drew their service weapons and ordered Shroyer to stop as he reportedly was noticed to be carrying a sheathed knife. Shroyer reportedly followed the commands and was apprehended.
During the investigation, deputies spoke with a female victim who stated a verbal argument with Shroyer occurred in a vehicle at the residence. The victim said Shroyer allegedly accelerated the vehicle as she was exiting and reportedly was dragged for an unknown distance. Deputies reportedly noticed the victim sustained multiple cuts and road rash on her left leg which spread to the upper thigh area, as well as a large cut on her left elbow.
Online court documents say Shroyer has been charged with a Class D Felony for Second-Degree Domestic Assault and a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest. Bond has not yet been set.
Shroyer’s initial hearing at Lafayette County Circuit Court is pending.
