During its meeting on Thursday, April 19, the Sweet Springs R-7 School Board reorganized and also acted on a tuition-related item.
According to a news release, an election was not required because members Cindi Sims and Darla Reid were the only two persons who filed for the open seats on the board.
In voting among the board, Eric Giffen was elected as board president, Sims as vice president, Paula Staples as treasurer, Reid as secretary and Robert Fuehring as the delegate to the Missouri School Board Association. Other members of the school board are Troy Schroeder and Brian Vogelsmeier.
In other news, Superintendent Donna Wright recommended the board approve dropping the tuition fee for preschool next year. She said the talk is the formula will be “fully funded” next year, and the board voted to eliminate the preschool tuition fees for the 2018-19 school year.
