Several Arizona residents have been charged with a drug-related felony after a traffic stop earlier this week in Lafayette County.
According to a probable-cause statement, on April 24, Lafayette County deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a lane violation on I-70 near Route T. Deputies reportedly noticed suspicious activity from each of the occupants, 23-year-old Monique Dean, 26-year-old James Wright and 39-year-old Damen White. White reportedly pulled a blanket over his lap trying to conceal something while the others allegedly tried to distract the deputies.
Reportedly, deputies searched the vehicle and found various drug paraphernalia including a syringe filled with a liquid which later tested positive for methamphetamine.
Online court documents say each suspect has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabis and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond for each Wright and White was set at $7,500 cash or surety, while Dean’s was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Each defendant’s initial hearing at Lafayette County Circuit Court is pending.
