A Sedalia man who allegedly possessed a controlled substance and attempted to avoid arrest by fleeing has been charged with two felonies.
According to a probable-cause statement, Sedalia Police received a call about a person walking in the street, failing to use the sidewalk, on April 26. A police officer requested to search the man, and he consented. The search reportedly revealed the man to be in possession of three clear plastic baggies containing a substance, which later tested to be cocaine. The officer reported that once he tried to detain the man, the subject lunged at the officer, who pointed his Taser at the man, who began to run away. The officer reportedly deployed his Taser, which was effective, and the man was taken into custody.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued, and 56-year-old David E. Buckner has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana and a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest for a Felony. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Buckner’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
