During a special meeting of the Marshall School Board on Tuesday, May 1, board president Brad Guthrey announced that on April 25, the city of Marshall finalized its deal with the state to take over ownership of the 287-acre parcel of land formerly known as the Marshall Habilitation Center.
The board then held a sometimes-spirited discussion about moving forward to acquire the Spainhower Building, which currently is being utilized for the district’s TLC programs, from the city.
New board member Erin Williams expressed her concerns over acquiring the building.

Board vice president Mike Mills said he thinks it’s a good deal.

The possible deal– as it is now– calls for the city to exchange the land the Spainhower building sits on for a 26-acre piece of real estate, known as the Gieringer property. No actions were taken.
The entire deal is expected to be hammered out between the school district and the city in the near future.
