A 33-year-old Carrollton woman is facing a felony charge for allegedly being in possession of drug-related items after a traffic stop by authorities on May 2.
A probable-cause statement says authorities found a box containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine, four used hypodermic needles and cotton swabs containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine and several other hypodermic needles.
According to online court documents, Jessica Ann Burton, who was arrested at the scene, has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid and two misdemeanors. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash or licensed surety.
Burton appeared in custody via video and pleaded not guilty during her arraignment hearing on May 3. Her cause has been continued for another hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at Carroll County Circuit Court.
