The Missouri Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin work on a pair of bridge replacements on a stretch of I-70 near Mayveiw, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 14.
According to MoDOT, initial work will include rebuilding the shoulders on the eastbound lanes. Traffic in the eastbound lanes will be reduced to one lane until 3 p.m. on May 17.
This project will replace Route E and Route H bridges over the next few months. The Route E bridges originally were constructed in 1959, widened in 1988 and rehabilitated in 2012. The Route H bridge was constructed in 1960. In January 2013, the bridge received a deck rating and superstructure rating of 3 (serious condition) and was slated for replacement. More than 30,000 drivers reportedly cross through this stretch of I-70 every day.
