Roadwork at Marshall Junction is progressing and will affect traffic in a new way beginning next week.
According to a news release, beginning Monday, May 21, the Missouri Department of Transportation will shift I-70 traffic to the outside shoulders and close the loop ramps from southbound U.S. Highway 65 to eastbound I-70 and northbound U.S. Highway 65 to westbound I-70. Traffic will be detoured to Routes YY and J. The exit ramps from I-70 to U.S. Highway 65 will remain open. Crews also will be setting up a temporary barrier on I-70 and working on the crossovers in the median.
Speeds through the work zone will be reduced to 60 miles per hour, however crews will maintain two lanes in each direction on I-70 for the duration of the project.
The work is part of the I-70 and U.S. Highway 65 bridge rehabilitation project that will repair the bridges on I-70 that span the interchange because the bridge decks are becoming substandard.
