Three Kansas residents were killed and two others injured in a boating crash in Camden County on Saturday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as the vessel was headed upstream and struck a rock bluff. The driver and two of four passengers in the boat were ejected out of the boat. The driver reportedly reentered the vessel and paddled it to a dock across the channel.
Olathe 21-year-old Hailey Hochanadel, and 23-year-old Joseph Lemark and 24-year-old Daniel Lewis, of Overland Park, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Bodies of two of the three deceased persons were recovered after diving and dragging operations.
The driver, 22-year-old Hayden Frazier, of Overland Park, and 21-year-old passenger Ashley Lamb, of Olathe, sustained moderate and serious injuries, respectively. Lamb was helicoptered to a hospital in Springfield and Frazier transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.
The crash happened at about midnight at the 47.5 mile marker in the main channel of the Lake of the Ozarks.
