A standoff with law enforcement ended peacefully in Marshall on Sunday, May 20, however, the man who had barricaded himself inside the residence in the 300 block of West Kay Street, now faces a felony charge.
According to a probable-cause statement, the man’s father came to the police station to report his son was out of control. A call came into the office while that report was being taken, and the suspect’s mother stated he had hit her in the head with a whiskey bottle and threatened to kill her by cutting her throat. The suspect’s father told police his son is an ex-SWAT member for the Seattle Police Department and an Army Ranger suffering from PTSD.
A release from the police department says upon the arrival of officers, a 58-year-old Marshall man brandished a firearm and then barricaded himself inside the residence. Marshall Police secured the area while the Missouri State Highway Patrol SWAT team was contacted and responded.
After speaking with the man over a period of time, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was able to have the man walk out of the residence, and he was taken into custody.
