The Marshall Planning and Zoning Committee recently heard some presentations about a request involving the Georgia Brown Blosser Home for Women.
Jerry Hedrick, representing the home, explained to the Marshall City Council at its meeting on Monday, May 21, some of what is being requested. He said they are talking about adding on to the back of the home, which he said will not change the appearance of the neighborhood.
Hedrick said if they are allowed to make the changes, they want to relocate the kitchen to the middle of what will be two buildings. They also plan to add an elevator on each side for use by anybody.
City Inspector and Code Official Mike Morgan says the city council needs to schedule a public hearing in the matter.
Morgan said this will be for a special-use permit to allow the changes to the building.
The council agreed to set up a public hearing prior to the start of the regular council meeting on Monday, June 18.
