A Rothville teen accused of killing her infant child earlier this year, appeared for a bond-reduction hearing recently in Chariton County.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities were called to a residence in the 300 block of Main Street in Rothville and determined that 19-year-old Sarah Linebaugh knowingly caused the death of her 2-month-old daughter by suffocation on March 18. Authorities found a handwritten note at the scene that led them to believe Linebaugh caused the death of her infant.
According to online court documents, Linebaugh has been charged with a Class A Felony for First-Degree Murder with bond originally set at $100,000 cash only. On May 11, Linbaugh waived her formal arraignment hearing and entered a plea of not guilty.
Online court documents also say, on Tuesday, May 22, Linebaugh’s attorney made a motion to reduce the bond amount which was opposed by the prosecuting attorney. The court reduced the bond to $50,000 cash or surety.
Linebaugh’s cause has been continued for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, at Chariton County Circuit Court.
