Marshall-Saline Development Corporation Executive Director Stan Moore was at the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, May 24, and asked commissioners to approve the setting up of the Develop Saline County Advisory Board and its bylaws.
Commissioners approved the eight-person advisory board to be established. Members of the board are: Northern District Commissioner Richard Clemens; Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner; Marshall Junction representative Greg Swift; Slater Assistant City Administrator Gene Griffith; Sweet Springs City Clerk Michelle Fuehring; Marshall City Administrator David Haugland; Chairperson of the Arrow Rock Board of Trustees Kirby McCullough; and Moore.
The commissioners then gave approval of the bylaws of the board.
Moore’s request for the board to hold a special meeting on Wednesday, June 6, was approved. The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at the MSDC office in Marshall. The first regular meeting of the board, which is scheduled to meet quarterly, will be held on Wednesday, July 11.
The board was formed to oversee the dispersal of proceeds from the half-cent sales-tax measure county voters approved in April for economic development throughout the county. The tax begins on Oct. 1, 2018, and sunsets on Dec. 31, 2038.
