A Sedalia man has been charged with multiple felonies after trying to elude officers during a traffic stop last week in Pettis County.
A probable-cause statement says on May 25, Sedalia Police officers conducted a traffic stop near the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a violation.
Officers spoke with the driver in the patrol vehicle and noticed a passenger, 27-year-old Emmanuel Reeders, get out of the stopped vehicle and started to walk away from the scene. Officers commanded Reeders to stop which he failed to do and a pursuit began. Eventually, Reeders lost his footing on wet grass and officers apprehended him on a residential lawn in the 800 block of East Broadway.
Reeders was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, a controlled medication not prescribed to him and drug paraphernalia, as well as a credit card, driver’s license and social-security card which was reported as stolen on May 24.
Online court documents say Reeders has been charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; one count of a Class D Felony for Stealing; a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest for a Felony; and two drug-related misdemeanors. Bond has been set at $40,000 cash or surety.
Reeders’ initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
