Two Marshall residents have been charged with a felony for an alleged incident of burglary recently in Saline County.
A probable-cause statement says the Marshall Police Department assigned an officer to extra patrol in the area of East Ridgecrest Road due to reports of alleged burglaries occurring recently. At approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 1, an officer noticed a male subject, who was not wearing a shirt, trying to gain entry into a residence by force.
The officer overheard talking between two individuals and the sound of metal creaking at the residence, which prompted the officer to call in assistance to the location. Upon arrival of backup, two subjects fled the area, but were later apprehended near the intersection of Gordon and Salt Pond as one subject was shirtless and the other subject’s shirt was ripped. During an investigation of the residence, officers noticed a door was opened by forced entry and a piece of shirt was located in the driveway.
Online court documents say 22-year-olds Ira Malik Hackett and Nicholas Johnson each have been charged with a Class E Felony for Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree with bond for each set at $5,000 cash or surety.
Each subject’s initial hearing at Saline County Circuit Court is pending.
