A Sweet Springs teenager has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly being involved in criminal incidents over the past week.
According to a probable-cause statement, on May 30, the Saline County Sheriff’s Department was advised of a stealing case in which 18-year-old Alexander Marvin Mitchell allegedly participated in the theft of checks from a person and cashed two of them– for a total of $1,200. Mitchell also was identified as one of the persons who allegedly burglarized a shed belonging to the victim, during which some tools reportedly were stolen. Mitchell also is alleged to have been involved in the theft of $975 cash from the victim’s residence. The other person allegedly involved has not been formally charged at this time.
According to online court documents, Mitchell has been charged with a Class B Felony for Burglary in the First Degree and two counts of a Class D Felony for Forgery and Class D Felonies for Burglary in the Second Degree and Stealing of $750 or More. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash or surety.
Mitchell appeared in custody via video and was arraigned on Tuesday, June 5. His cause was continued for a counsel-status hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at Saline County Circuit Court.
