Three residents from Shelby, N.C., each were injured in a traffic accident in Saline County on Monday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as the driver of a westbound vehicle, 68-year-old Kenneth Littlejohn, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and the vehicle traveled into the median and struck the median cables. The driver then overcorrected the vehicle causing it to travel off the right side of the roadway and came to a rest in a ditch.
Littlejohn was transported by E.M.S to I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs for treatment of minor injures, while the passengers, an 8-year-old male and 32-year-old Mark Littlejohn, each refused treatment of minor inures at the scene.
The accident happened just before 7 a.m. at the 70.8 mile marker of I-70.
