Two St. Joseph residents, who were being evicted from a motel in Carrollton on June 7, allegedly were in possession of drug-related items and have been charged with felonies by authorities.
According to a probable-cause statement, during the eviction process, an officer reportedly noticed in plain view a container with a white powdery substance on it, prompting authorities to apply for and obtain a search warrant for the room at the Carrollton Inn.
During a search of the room, authorities say they found multiple items, including syringes, glass pipes, a metal spoon, plastic baggies and controlled substances.
According to online court documents, warrants have been issued and 32-year-old Brandon P. Sisemore and 31-year-old Erik L. Lawhon, each has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond for each has been set at $30,000 cash or licensed surety, no 10-percent allowed.
An initial hearing for each of the accused at Carroll County Circuit Court is pending.
