Two Carrollton residents were killed in a rollover traffic crash in Carroll County on December 23, 2017, and now the Carrollton resident who was driving the vehicle has been charged with two counts of a felony.
The original report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the eastbound vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Blake Lee Wilson, reportedly ran off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and a tree and overturned on Route CC, east of County Road 261 in Carroll County just after 12:30 a.m. Two passengers were ejected out of the vehicle and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Wilson suffered serious injuries and another passenger, 22-year-old Zachary Warner, sustained minor injuries.
A probable-cause statement says an investigation revealed the vehicle’s speedometer was stuck between 115 and 120 mph and the tachometer stuck at approximately 4,000 RPMs. Further investigation reportedly revealed Wilson, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, tested positive for alcohol during a preliminary breath test at the hospital.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Wilson has been charged with two counts of a Class E Felony for Involuntary Manslaughter in the Second Degree. Bond has been set at $20,000 cash or licensed surety– 10-percent allowed– with special unspecified conditions.
Wilson’s initial appearance at Carroll County Circuit Court is pending.
