The Concordia Board of Alderman approved to purchase traffic signs and discussed street improvements during its meeting on Monday, June 18.
According to the minutes from the meeting, alderman approved to purchase school zone traffic signage which includes diamond-grade reflective signs with ultra-high visibility for $4,836.50.
In other business, a report on street work for this year was given in which over 300 yards of cold mix and 14,000 gallons of oil has been purchase for a total of $59,150. Areas which have been improved so far this year includes: 6th to 13th Streets, from Orange to St. Louis Streets; 6th Street, between Gordon and Bismark Streets; and 5th Street, between Main and Bismark Streets.
During his report, Mayor Michael Brown said work is being done with KCP&L for getting the light poles painted on Main Street with six being completed as of June 18. Brown also said a meeting with MoDOT and engineers has been scheduled to discuss the NW 4th Street project.
During the announcements, City Hall will be closed for Independence Day on Wednesday, July 4, and trash pick up for that day has been rescheduled for Thursday, July 5.
