An area junior-high student-athlete is scheduled to compete in the opening round of an event at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo in Huron, SD, on Tuesday, June 26.
According to the event’s website, Karyn Fuchs, a seventh-grade student at Bueker Middle School in Marshall, is scheduled to compete in the opening round of the goat-tying event at 9 a.m.
Fuchs, the daughter of Robbie and Miranda Fuchs, of Marshall, also is scheduled to compete in her event at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 28.
Overall, roughly 1,000 contestants from 43 states, five Canadian provinces, Australia and Mexico, are scheduled to compete in different events at the 14th annual rodeo, which continues through the championship performance– which is scheduled to be telecast on RFD-TV– at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 30.
