A Boonville man was one of two persons to suffer serious injuries in a freightliner traffic crash in Morgan County on Wednesday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a southbound freightliner, driven by 46-year-old Shawn Auxier, of Boonville, reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign, traveled down an embankment and struck several trees.
Auxier reportedly was transported by Mid-Mo ambulance, and a passenger in the freightliner, 27-year-old Matthew Smith, of Columbia, was flown by Staff for Life helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
The crash happened just after 12 p.m. on Missouri Highway 5 at U.S. Highway 50.
