Formal charges have been filed against a Marshall man apprehended by Marshall Police officers on Tuesday, June 26.
According to a release from the department, a citizen alerted authorities that William Ray Rich Jr. was walking on South Redman Avenue. When officers arrived, they say Rich ran. They caught up with him and took him into custody near the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and East Thomas Street.
According to probable-cause statements, Rich is alleged to have stolen a truck from a residence in the 700 block of South Salt Pond Avenue in Marshall on April 28; another truck from the parking lot of AgIdeal in the 200 block of North Benton Avenue in Marshall on June 14; and a car on June 17 in Waverly.
According to online court documents, Rich has been charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree in each case. He also has been charged with a Class E Felony for Driving While Revoked or Suspended in the case involving the theft of the car. Bond in each case has been set at $10,000 cash only, with conditions including he is not to have any contact with the alleged victims; he is to wear a G.P.S. monitoring device and have a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Rich’s arraignment hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, at Saline County Circuit Court.
