A 19-year-old Rothville resident who has been charged with murder for allegedly killing her infant child on March 18 appeared in court on Thursday, June 28.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities were called to a residence in Rothville and determined that 19-year-old Sarah M. Linebaugh knowingly caused the death of her 2-month-old daughter– after deliberation– by suffocating her. Linebaugh then attempted to take her own life by shooting herself. She was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
According to online court documents, Linebaugh has been charged with a Class A Felony for First-Degree Murder. Her bond was reduced by the court from $100,000 cash only to $50,000 cash or surety on May 22.
During Thursday’s proceeding, the state’s request for a continuance was granted; and the defense attorney’s request for Linebaugh to be released on an own-recognizance bond– with her to seek placement in a mental health or medical facility– also was granted.
Linebaugh’s next hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at Chariton County Circuit Court.
