A Syracuse man was injured in a traffic accident involving wildlife in Cooper County on Friday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as the driver of a northbound Kenworth, 38-year-old Philip Stemberger, reportedly swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, which caused the semi-truck to go off the left side of the roadway, and traveled through fence and struck a tree.
Stemberger reportedly refused treatment of minor injures at the scene.
The accident happened at about 6 a.m. on Missouri Highway 5, about one mile south of Leonard Cutoff Road.
