Independence Day is the perfect time to enjoy the sunshine, outdoor activities and watch fireworks with friends and family. However, for pets, the hot weather and holiday hubbub can be a dangerous combination.
According to the Animal Medical Center of MidAmerica, you need to remember some tips to help keep your furry friends safe.
*If you’re planning to take your pet along for any festivities, keep the “Humane Society of Missouri’s” motto in mind, “70 degrees and over, don’t take Rover.” Leaving a pet in a hot, unattended vehicle can cause severe injury or death within minutes. You are urged to act immediately if you see a distressed animal in an unattended vehicle by calling the local police or the Missouri Animal Cruelty Hotline at (314) 647-4400.
If possible, pets should be kept at home in a quiet, cool place where they can relax.
