A Marshall man has been charged with a felony for an alleged domestic assault incident in Saline County.
A probable-cause statement says the Marshall Police Department took a report from a female victim detailing an alleged domestic assault incident on July 3, 2018. The victim stated 24-year-old Jonathan McGowan allegedly choked her while holding her down on the ground, as well as struck her in the face during a recent argument. The victim was observed to have redness around her neck, bruising around the left cheek bone area and a swollen upper lip.
McGowan also provided a statement to MPD in which he denied striking or strangling the victim during the argument, but admitted to pushing her. McGowan also told authorities he was not willing to take a CVSA or lie-detector test.
Online court documents say McGowan has been charged with a Class E Felony for Third-Degree Domestic Assault. Bond was set at $7,500 cash only.
McGowan’s initial hearing at Saline County Circuit Court is pending.
