A Richmond homeless man is facing a felony charge after allegedly biting a law-enforcement officer during an investigation of an incident on July 3.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities say Michael Wayne Norton, who reportedly told authorities he has Hepatitis C– which can cause liver disease, liver cancer and even death– willingly bit the officer on the right biceps, causing immediate bruising and slight bleeding, due to the bite breaking the skin.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Norton has been charged with a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree- Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash only, with special unspecified conditions.
Norton’s initial hearing at Ray County Circuit Court is pending.
