After a high-speed chase through the streets of Sedalia that ended inside the Missouri State Fairgrounds on the evening of July 4, a Sedalia man is facing a felony charge.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities reportedly attempted to arrest 27-year-old Ahmad J. Dupree during a traffic stop. But after he was instructed to exit his vehicle, Dupree sped away in the vehicle. The officer says the pursuit lasted about 10 minutes and reached speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. Dupree’s vehicle reportedly entered Gate 3 at the fairgrounds and nearly struck several parked vehicles and pedestrians. Dupree eventually stopped the vehicle and was arrested.
Online court documents say a warrant has been issued and Dupree has been charged with a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest, Stop or Detention by Fleeing, Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury or Death to Any Person; and three misdemeanors. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety, with a condition being he is not to drive a motor vehicle.
Dupree’s initial appearance at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
