The driver of a vehicle has been formally charged with a felony after a Carrollton resident was killed in a traffic crash on Saturday, July 14, in Carroll County.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as an eastbound vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Dustin Michael Goodale, of Carrollton, reportedly traveled off the left side of the roadway, began to slide, continued off the left side of the roadway, overturned and ejected the passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Waters, who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt. The vehicle came to rest in a bean field. The crash happened at about 12:20 a.m. on County Road 255, one-quarter of a mile south of County Road 290.
Goodale, who also reportedly was not wearing a seat belt and refused treatment of minor injuries at the scene, was transported by authorities to the Chariton County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Goodale has been charged with a Class C Felony for a DWI- Leading to the Death of Another Person; two driving-related misdemeanors; and a driving-related infraction. Bond has been set at $20,000 cash or corporate surety, 10-percent allowed with unspecified conditions.
Goodale’s initial hearing at Carroll County Circuit Court is pending.
