A 44-year-old Harrisonville woman has been found guilty of a drug-related felony, and she will be sentenced next month.
According to a release from Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Don Stouffer, following a full-day trial, Presiding Judge Dennis Rolf took less than 10 minutes to come to his verdict on Friday, July 13.
Rolf found Melissa Ann Glaze guilty of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid and a drug-related misdemeanor.
According to Stouffer, the charges arose after two used syringes and five grams of methamphetamine were found to belong to Glaze, who was a passenger in a vehicle that had been stopped by authorities on I-70 in April 2017.
Before the trial began, Stouffer provided evidence regarding Glaze’s seven prior felony convictions, ranging from identity theft to burglary to drugs to forgery. Because of her extensive criminal background, Stouffer says she faces up to 15 years in prison.
Glaze’s sentencing hearing is set to be held on Monday, August 13, at Saline County Circuit Court.
