Area authorities have made a couple of arrests of persons who allegedly were using or had possession of fake money.
According to a post on the Sedalia Police Department’s Facebook page, on July 15 and 17 delivery drivers from two different pizza restaurants received counterfeit $100 bills from a customer, who was identified as 29-year-old Brandon T. Swearingin, of Sedalia. When he was arrested Swearingin reportedly was in possession of several counterfeit $100 bills.
On July 19, a detective executed a search warrant for a residence in the 2200 block of West 1st Street Terrace, which reportedly yielded several additional counterfeit $100 bills and evidence that indicated the manufacturing of counterfeit money. Authorities arrested a 29-year-old Sedalia man. However, formal charges have not been filed against him at this time.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Swearingin has been charged with 11 counts of a Class D Felony for Forgery. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety.
Swearingin’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
