Two Lafayette County residents were killed in the Duck Boat accident in Branson on Thursday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the amphibious vessel, driven by 51-year-old Kenneth McKee, entered Table Rock Lake and was overcome by high winds in a thunderstorm, which caused it to swamp and then sink.
In all, 17 persons were fatally injured, including 63-year-old Janice Bright and 65-year-old William Bright, of Higginsville. Other persons killed as a result of the accident were– nine from the state of Indiana; three other persons from Missouri– including the driver; two residents from the state of Arkansas; and one from Illinois. Several other persons on the boat suffered injuries from minor to serious, while several others reportedly were not injured.
The accident was first reported at 7:13 p.m. and happened just north of the Branson Belle.
