A Marshall man charged with a felony for failing to provide up-to-date sex offender registration information was found guilty during a court proceeding on Tuesday, July 24.
According to a news release from Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Don Stouffer, 38-year-old William Allen McDaniel reportedly changed his residence and failed to notify the Saline County Sheriff’s Office in a timely manner. McDaniel was charged with a Class D Felony for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
During the court proceeding, a deputy stated McDaniel not only was late in registering his new address, but McDaniel told the deputy he knew of his requirement to do so. Stouffer stated to the court when an individual has been convicted of molesting children on two separate occasions, the individual forfeits the right to disregard the registration requirements.
The court found McDaniel guilty and set his sentencing hearing for 1:15 p.m. on Monday, September 10, at Saline County Circuit Court.
