A Carrollton resident who is being held at the Chariton County Jail on a charge in Carroll County has been charged with a felony for allegedly assaulting a deputy at the jail on July 23.
According to a probable-cause statement, Corbin Gilmer punched a deputy several times in the ribs and stomach. When the deputy got away and attempted to leave the cell, Gilmer charged at the deputy, who says he warned Gilmer he was going to be pepper sprayed three times before the chemical was used. The deputy says Gilmer charged at him anyway and had to be subdued and physically put back in his cell.
Online court documents say a warrant has been issued and Gilmer has been charged with a Class E Felony for Assault in the Third Degree. Bond has been set at $5,000 cash only.
Gilmer’s initial appearance at Chariton County Circuit Court is pending.
