A Sedalia man has been formally charged with a couple of felonies for a high-speed chase incident in Pettis County on July 17.
A probable-cause statement says Pettis County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a report of a physical disturbance in the 4000 block of Lake Shore Drive. While en route, deputies noticed the suspect’s vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop which had negative results.
During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly was traveling up to 80 miles per hour on city streets, and the pursuit eventually ended as the suspect parked his vehicle at a residence in 1100 block of East 15th Street. The driver was apprehended and was identified as 40-year-old David Jasper. A search of his person and vehicle reportedly rendered a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and other drug paraphernalia.
Online court documents say Jasper has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest by Fleeing-Creating a Substantial Risk of Injury or Death to Any Person, as well as three misdemeanors, one driving-related and two drug-related. Bond was set at $8,000 cash or surety.
Jasper’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
