It’s Missouri’s birthday, and everybody is invited!
According to a news release, the First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site will host a special “Statehood Day” celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, August 10.
This free event is designed to help commemorate the 197th anniversary of Missouri becoming a state.
The public is invited to an open house to view the buildings where the state’s first legislators and senators met from 1821 to 1826. Visitors can enjoy free birthday cake and lemonade.
Activities include historic demonstrations and a presentation by the World Bird Sanctuary at 1 p.m.
The First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site is located at 200 South Main Street in St. Charles.
