An inmate at the Boonville Correctional Center has been charged with a felony for allegedly coercing another person to smuggle him drugs.
According to a probable-cause statement, between June 4 and 9, Shawn Gaman is said to have placed calls to a civilian and instructed her to pick up an unknown substance and pass it to him through visitation.
On June 9, when the civilian checked in, she was interviewed and reportedly surrendered to authorities a balloon which contained four dime-sized bags, containing a white powdery substance, which tested positive for cocaine.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Gaman has been charged with a Class E Felony for Conspiracy to Deliver or Possess a Controlled Substance at a Correctional Center. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash or surety.
Gaman’s initial hearing at Cooper County Circuit Court is pending.
