The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a free Discover-Nature Youth Dove Hunting Clinic in Henry County later this month.
According to a news release, the event, which is open for youths ages 11-15, will be held from 5 p.m. until dark on Sunday, August 26, at the Golden Valley Shooting Range near Clinton. Youths who participate in the clinic also will get a chance to hunt dove with MDC staff or volunteer guides at a site in the Clinton area on September 1 and 2.
MDC will provide shotguns and shells, or youths can bring their own shotgun. The clinic will include instruction on dove ecology, conservation, hunting tips, firearms safety and hunting regulations.
Advance registration is required, and youths must be accompanied by an adult. They must attend the clinic to participate in the dove hunts.
To register for the hunt, call MDC’s Clinton Office at (660) 885-6981.
