In order to keep the ongoing project at the Marshall Junction progressing, Saline County Commissioners were asked to approve a bid for a traffic study to be conducted during its meeting on Tuesday, August 14.
Rich Rhodes, of Rhodes Engineering, said three bids were received for the study on U.S. Highway 65, just south of I-70.
Rhodes said the traffic study will include several facets.
Commissioners voted to accept the bid from Burns/McDonnell.
Rhodes said the traffic study could be finished in approximately 30 days. Then they can present the results to the highway commission and hopefully get some 50-50 funding for the project.
The Marshall-Saline Development Corporation is going to pay for the study up front, and the county will pay it back once money from the half-cent sales tax voters passed in April starts accumulating. The sales tax takes effect on October 1.
